ICHS NEWS

February 4, 2010:   The Immaculate Conception High School Community sponsored a “Walk for Haiti” on Friday, January 29, from 1:15-2:15 p.m. on the property of the Felician Sisters in Lodi.

After soliciting pledges for a little over a week, students took up banners prepared by the Art Classes and bundled up to face the bitter cold.  Students, administration, faculty, and staff set out, determined to help those who had been victims of the deadly earthquake in Haiti.  This visible sign of caring started at the front door of the high school and covered an area that included the Felician School for Exceptional Children; Felician College, Library, and Child Care Center; and the Felician Sisters convent and infirmary.

It is with great pride that the Immaculate Conception High School Community will send a donation of $4,325 to the Catholic Relief Services.

Walk for Haiti

February 4, 2010:  Immaculate Conception High School joined with the Youth Center at Kearny and Felician College to journey to Washington, DC, for the annual “March for Life,” which took place on the 22nd of January.

Boarding a bus at 6:00 a.m., the Immaculate Conception High School group of 14 students and 4 chaperones set off with great enthusiasm.  They joined approximately 400,000 pro-life marchers on the mall.

The March for Life event began at noon with a rally held on the Washington Mall.  The march itself began at 2:00 p.m., heading north on 7th Street NW to Constitution Avenue, then east along Constitution Avenue to 1st Street NE (thus moving between the Capitol's Senate Wing and the Senate's three office buildings), then south on 1st Street NE to the Supreme Court.

When the group boarded the bus for the trip long trip home, they were cold, tired, and hungry; but they were also excited that they had been part of this huge number of people making a statement that life is sacred.
